How it all began ... A tribute to Chic's Foundation Bitch

CH LBK's Silver Mackaya Bella, OA, NAJ, CGC
Kayla

It all began by obtaining the 'pick bitch' from the first litter at LBK from the breeding of CH Keeplay's As You Like It (William) to CH AW Catch A Silver Sensation at LBK (Katie).

Kayla started showing the day she turned six months old. Her breeder, Jane Livingston, showed her and I decided "That's my girl and I can do that." Realizing it wasn't as easy as it looked, Kayla was very patient as she taught me how to show. At a basic obedience class, the instructor informed me that I had to make a decision -- obedience or conformation -- she stated Kayla was smart enough to do both, but I wasn't -- How true that was!

Kayla and I made a  pact -- if she finished her AKC Championship for me, I would do agility for her. So, she easily  finished her AKC championship after she matured and moved into the agility ring. She absolutely loved agility and achieved her titles quickly -- only attending one show where she did not earn a leg towards a title.

Kayla moved to the whelping box and produced two  extraordinarily nice litters. She won brood bitch at both the Regional and the Keeshond National in 2005 with her first litter, bred to CH Dreamwood Jingle Bell Rock (James) that produced Diva and Crystal.

Kayla was always far too intelligent for her own good, but always loving. One of her agility instructors described her so perfectly -- "Kayla is Kayla!!!"

At the age of 12 years old, Kayla won Best in Show at an IABCA event, receiving rave reviews.

Chic mourns the passing of Kayla in October 2015. She will always be loved and fondly remembered. Her legend continues through her offspring at Chic.
